I recently discovered a recipe for easy pulled pork made in the crock pot. I made a few changes here and there have created a version our family loves! It is the simplest way I've found yet to cook our pork shoulders, and it has become a treat--we typically eat this without BBQ sauce it is so good.
The recipe is as follows for one 3-5 lb. pork shoulder:
1. Place 1 sliced yellow onion and 4 cloves chopped garlic in crock pot (I have left these out before when I did not have them on hand and the recipe was still good). Then pour in 1 cup chicken broth.
2. Combine 1 TBL brown sugar, 1 TBL Chili Powder, 1 TBL Salt, 1/2 Tsp. Ground Cumin, 1/4 Tsp. Ground Cinnamon. Pat the pork shoulder dry and rub the spice mixture all over. Place over onions in crock pot and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 6-8 hours.
3. Once done, remove pork shoulder from crock pot and shred with fork, removing bones and unwanted fat. Enjoy with BBQ sauce or by itself!
